Junior FD

The Green Township Fire Department also provides service opportunities for younger members of the community. Residents between the ages of 16-17 may apply to the GTFD as a junior firefighter. Junior firefighters can serve the department in many ways. Although juniors cannot go inside structure fires or use equipment at vehicle extrications, they can help firefighters with setting up equipment upon arrival at a scene, assist with fire operations such as stretching hoselines, as well as helping clean up equipment when the scene is cleared.

Being a junior firefighter provides great experience for those interested in becoming a New Jersey State Certified Firefighter after the completion of Firefighter I (more info here).
